Site of the Middle Almshouses. Visit in 1923 (Rea). Just above the arch of the East Gate on the north side of the High Street were the Middle Almshouses of which a rough water-colour sketch hangs in the council chamber. They are said to have been pulled down by Richard Savery who was mayor in 1590.
