Full description

English Heritage, 2012, National Heritage List for England (National Heritage List for England). SDV348729.

Chest Tomb approximately 8 metres south-east of chancel of Parish Church of St. Mary, Old Totnes Road. Chest tomb to Christopher Vallance, 'who was consigned to a watery grave by falling overboard in the Bay of Cape Broyle Newfoundland'. Dated 1802. Flat Devon limestone top, plinth and side plaques, white freestone to the sides and clasping pilasters which have moulded plinths and capitals, and vase swellings below the centres. Date listed: 11th December 1996.
