Full description
Department of Environment, 1988, Ashton, 16 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV284341.
Rainbow Cottage and Rainbow End. House and adjoining cottage, former almshouse. Probably C18 or earlier. Whitewashed rendered cob and stone ; thatched roof, gabled at ends ; end stacks and 2 axial stacks. Plan: Single depth plan, presumably 4 dwellings originally. Exterior: 2 storeys. Long 4 window front with 2 adjacent doorways, one with a thatched porch, to left of centre. 2-light casement windows glazed with C20 leaded panes. Interior: Not inspected but may retain features of interest. Group value with other buildings in an exceptionally unspoiled village centre.
