At norton, part of the medieval chapel may still be seen in an isolated farm building. This part of the parish formerly belonged to the dean and chapter (of exeter cathedral). A pond near norton farm was used in the 14th century for seasoning timbers for the cathedral roof (church guide).

The site of an ancient chapel situated about 10 chains sw of norton house (nmr citing onb).

NMR CITING POLWELL, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV54105.

Norton is mentioned "as a chapel to newton-st cyrick (st cyres) demolished" (nmr citing polwell).

NMR CITING SAINSBURY, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV54106.

The indicated site of the chapel at sx88679924 is located on a gentle ne facing slope in a pasture field; there is no evidence of building foundations here. The site of the pond, as suggested by os 1982, is located on flat ground in a pasture field; no remains are visible (nmr citing sainsbury).
