Navigation daymark (beacon), situated on headland, froward point. Slate rubble tower 80 feet high. Octagonal plan, sharply battered with truncated open top, and tall narrow pointed-head openings on each side at base forming eight stilted piers. Built as a navigational aid (doe).

Beacon height 24.0 metres. The tower, brownstone. The hollow limestone pillar was erected by the Dartmouth Harbour Commission in 1864 as a day beacon.
