Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

'Woodhuish Mill (Corn)' marked on 1880s-1890s 25 inch Ordnance Survey map, comprising range of buildings alongside lane. The site appears to have altered considerably in the late 19th, early 20th century. Fewer buildings are shown on the 1904-1906 map and the site is marked as 'Woodhuish Mill Cottages'.

Woodhuys Mill, Woodhuish. Grain mill held by Peter Luyshecombe with right of grinding for tenants. Listed in Henry Compton's survey of Lord Dynham's land in 1566.


National Trust, 1984, East Dart, Devon, 12 (Report - Survey). SDV338477.

By the early 20th century the mill was in a ruinous condition (W. Cranch pers com.) and no machinery was evident. The mill cottages were also dilapidated at that time. A leat beneath the road and a pond are associated with the mill.
