Summary

Little rey mill, brixham. Built in 1797. It was in working order at least until 1835 and probably later. It is said to have been irreparably damaged in 1870, when a storm blew off its sails and cap. Part of the tower remains in unstable condition, and it now houses a transformer of sweb. This portion is 5.5m high, the walls are over 1m thick, and it has an internal diameter of over 4.25m. The ground floor is 1.5m below ground level owing to subsequent nearby building operations (minchinton, 1977).

First listed in 1949: circular stone rubble based. Upper part said to have been of wood. One of several windmills built in the district during the napoleonic wars, and which soon went out of use. Early 19th century cottage adjacent and no doubt contemporary. Both windmill and cottage listed for group value. Listing updated in 1975 (doe).
