Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

Cottage and Court recorded on the Fremington Tithe Map and Apportionment (873) in the occupation of Thomas Beer.

Site visit 20th June 1984. Two cottages with courts shown on Tithe Map (875 and 873). One cottage still stands, much modernised. The site of the other is now occupied by a garden/orchard with no visible remains.

Rookabeare Cottage. Cottage. Late C18 or early C19 with C20 alterations. Rendered stone and cob. Thatch roof with gable end stacks. Internal partitions changed, now 2-cell cottage. 2 storeys. 2-window range, 2-light casements, 4 panes per light. Three 2-light casements, 6 panes per light to ground floor with plank door, with lower eaves height to central bay which breaks forward slightly. Tiled C20 outshot to rear. Interior altered.
