Summary

A portion of the shaft of a cross stands on the lawn at torre abbey. It is fixed in a block of granite sunk in the turf. The shaft, which tapers slightly upwards, is square at the base and is chamfered into an octagon above, with a bold convex moulding at each edge running its whole length. It is said to have been a boundary cross of cockington manor, but at present bears a sundial, and this may have been its original function.
