Summary

The parish church of st saviour. The west tower is without buttresses and pinnacles, and has the marked batter of an early building. The interior and exterior of the church itself was over-restored in 1849 so that it has now assumed the peculiar atmosphere of early victorian churches. It was originally aisleless; the north aisle was added in the 14th century (pevsner).

Parish church, now in use by the greek orthodox church. Tower probably c13; c15 aisles; restored 1849; chancel enlarged 1873 by john hayward of exeter. Local grey limestone and red sandstone rubble (roughcast before 1849), chancel snecked; slate roof; some granite windows.

Church of st. Saviour. C13 origin, the tower battered without buttresses or pinnacles. North aisle added c14, originally only with nave and chancel. Very much restored 1849 and later. Intact devonian tomb of thomas cary and 1567 with early renaissance and perpendicular details. Typical elizabethan - jacobean tomb of thomas ridgeway - 1604 with flanking piers and columns, recumbent alabaster effigy and obelisk flank achievement set above cornice (doe).

Chanter includes the parish church of tor mohun in a list of churches dedicated to the celtic saint, st. Petrock (chanter).

Baring-gould gives evidence to show that the parish church of tormoham is dedicated to st. Petroc, but known locally as st. Saviour's church (lancefield).
