Minchinton, W., Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV2310.

Vis=estimated -/-/1929 (ellis, a. C. ) the earliest record of the fleete mill occurs in a deed of thomas ridgeway dated 1618. The mill was fed through a mill pond by the river fleete. The site of the mill is now occupied by the union hotel. It was a large building, part stone and part wood construction, with slate and thatch roofing. Against the wooden part of the building is an overshot mill-wheel. The fleet water mill was advertised for sale in 1808 and there is also a reference to its existence in 1820. There were a dwelling house and windmill associated at this time.(minchinton).
