Ellis, A. C., The Church of St John the Baptist, Bishopsteignton (Leaflet). SDV339295.

Tower at St John the Baptist parish church in Bishopsteignton was formerly a squat Norman tower with slightly higher pyramid-capped turret on east side, both rising from junction of nave with chancel. In 1815 both demolished and materials used to build present modern Gothic tower with imitation Norman doorway. Slated spire added but removed 1863 when parapet, pinnacles and gargoyles were built. South and west window modern.
