According to the records of the Charity Commissioners of 1818 the house was then let, the rent going to repairs of the church.

Church house now an inn. Here are fine old oak ceiling-beams to a room sub-divided by partitions. A modern grate has been inserted in the former large open fireplace. Walls plastered and colour-washed, and roof thatched. The doorway is plain, and the wooden windows are probably 18th century or later replacements. A moderately tall lateral stone chimney rises a little right of centre, and on the end-gable is an old leaning stack. In the village but near the church.

Church House Inn. Public house, formerly the church house. Probably late C16 in origin. Whitewashed rendered stone rubble; thatched roof, gabled at left end, hipped at right end; slate roof to block adjoining at the right end, which is probably the former stable; left end stack, rear lateral stack. Plan: single depth plan, the main range with a kitchen at the left end with a massive fireplace and bread oven but with a high quality moulded crossbeam: this may be secondary and it is possible that the kitchen was originally single storey. The centre and right end of the range is now one large room and may always have been so. Lean-to at left end, C20 additions to the rear. Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 4:3 window front, the 3 windows to the converted stable at the right. C20 front door to left of centre of main range into a C20 lobby between the 2 rooms; 2 and 3 light c20 timber casement windows with glazing bars. The right hand block is gabled to the front in the centre with a door at the right and a loft loading door above. Ground floor small-pane timber sashes.2-light casement in gable.
Interior: the left hand room has a massive fireplace, the lintel over 2 metres from the ground and almost the entire width of the room, with the remains of a roll moulding, extremely large stone lined bread oven in left hand jamb. The ceiling is supported on one half beam withstraight cut stops and one moulded cross beam. A rounded recess adjacent to the fireplace may be a smoking chamber or possibly the site of a newel stair. The right hand room has a C20 fireplace, possibly concealing earlier features with some C17 re-sited panelling on the rear wall and 4 chamfered crossbeams. Roof: not inspected at time of survey but likely to be of interest.

Church House Inn situated about 100m to east of church fronting village street. Large building aligned roughly north/south along village street. Three chimney stacks, all apparently mosern. Two on rear, one on south gable. Projecting internal lateral stair on rear. Possible first floor entry on front. Disturbance in wall partly obscured by inn sign. Roof drops about 0.5m about halfway along. Later outshot on south end. Stream flows along rear wall. Constructed of unknown stone, but probably limestone or new red sandstone. Rendered and whitewashed all over, with thatch roof. No architectural features apparent.
