Irregular three storey and two storey plastered front. Structure may be earlier than 17th century. Three gables at different levels. Part of ground floor projects with penthouse roofs to no.72 and 73.18th century sash windows and wood casements. Remains of circular stone pier on left hand side of yard entry. Part of this timber framed structure is probably 16th century. No.72 has two tripartite sashes, and no.73 has small shop front. Panelled screens passage through no.71. Tarred slate roof. Large stack (doe).

On august 11th 1976 two buildings, nos.71 and 73 fore st. , topsham, were destroyed by fire. "formerly used as an antique business and a hairdressers, they were centuries old and are thought to have started life as an elizabethan farmhouse. They were scheduled as of special historical and architectural interest"
