Summary
Pillbox (destroyed),
Full description
It is locally recalled that a pillbox stood on a point of the seawall overlooking Havengore Creek W of Havengore Bridge. Contemporary records state “Barbed Wire Fencing, Pill Box” at Havengore Creek. An aerial photograph taken in June 1960 shows the leading edges of a pillbox facing N from the slope of the seawall, probably after the seawall had been widened, burying the major part of the structure. <1> <2> <3>
Nothing of the structure can be seen now although a piece of typical WWII concrete was found at the site with the clear marks of reinforcement rods indented in it. Two photos of site. <4>
