Summary
Ammunition Shelter (destroyed)
Full description
Contemporary records state, “Storehouse for ammn. Town Farm. Map Ref. 243178”. (Mil. Ed.) <1>
Town Farm lies on the W side of Main Road at the southern end of Woodham Ferrers. It has not been possible to access the site and it is not therefore positively known whether the shelter still survives. However, these ammunition shelters were normally constructed in a small “Nissen-hut” design with a curved corrugated iron roof and nothing of this nature can be seen on a clear aerial photograph of the area taken in 1946. these shelters are rare survivors and it is highly probable that this example no longer survives. <2>
