Contemporary records state, “Road Barrier. Road No. N.908, Mayes Lane. Map ref. 229236”. (Mil. Ed.) <1>

Each of the approaches to Eves Corner was protected by road barriers during World War Two. From the map reference above, and the demolished remains which can be made out on an aerial photograph taken in May 1946, the barrier at Mayes Lane crossed the road immediately outside “Mayesfield”. <2> Nothing now remains at the site.
