Summary

Road Barrier (destroyed)

Full description

Contemporary records state, “Road Barrier. Road No. N. 1004, Bicknacre Road. Map ref. 215200”. (Mil. Ed.) <1>

Nothing of this barrier can be seen on 1960 aerial photographs but its position can be determined from a visible double-row of anti-tank pimples which clearly connected this barrier and its partner at The Common (see SMRs 20876 and 20878). The barrier crossed Bicknacre between “Veanta” and “Helford” on the W side to large trees which lined the road on the E side.

In 2004, the land on the E side has now been re-developed and houses now stand where the large trees were. Nothing survives of the barrier.
