Contemporary records state, “Sockets and irons for Tank Trap. Hill Cottage. Map ref. 226259”, “A/T traps, Concrete pimples. Butchers shop opposite Hill Cottage. Map ref. 226259” and “Road Barrier. Road No. 805, Little Baddow Road. Map ref. 226259”. (Mil. Ed.) <1>

Hill Cottage stands on the NW corner of the main road junction in Little Baddow and the road barrier clearly crossed North Hill, the northern arm of the junction, at this point. Nothing of the barrier now survives.
