Summary
Ammunition Shelter
Full description
Contemporary records state, “Storehouse for explosives. Meadow adj. The Moat and S.W. of The Mount House, Pleshey. Map ref. 113331”. (Mil. Ed.) <1> The remains of this ammunition shelter still survive in the grassy area to the W of Mount House, Pleshey. It is clear that originally it was a standard Nissen-hut type, 17’ x 13’, with curved corrugated iron roof and brick end walls. Now, the concrete remains together with approx. 3’ height of each end wall. This shows that the entrance was in the N wall. Nothing survives of the corrugated iron roof.
