In 1980 late iron age features were excavated during excavations of the west end of the neolithic cursus (see 5778 for this). <1> Iron age pottery was found in residual contexts in Roman features, indicating pre-Roman occupation. c500 iron age and Roman sherds were found, mostly small and abraded. Middle iron age, including Belgic grog-tempered sherds, were found, also late iron age sherds. Iron age ditch mentioned in source 2 <2> <3> <4>
