A Tett turret once stood in the grass 30/40 yards from the entrance gateway into Coalhouse Fort. A photograph taken c. 1960 shows the turret mounted on a brick-built circular chamber which was constructed to a height of perhaps 2 or 3 feet above ground level - possibly to alleviate the problem of flooding. <1> <2>
