Summary
Post-medieval farmstead, without a farmhouse
Monument Types
- FARMSTEAD (Post Medieval - 1501 AD to 1900 AD)
Full description
A large barn lying parallel with the road, and smaller farm buildings around the east corner of the yard between the barn and the road, are shown on <1> and named Cavehall Barn. The barn had a wagon porch or similar projection on the NW side. There is no farmhouse, or any sign of one. By 1898 the pair of houses called Cave Hall Cottages had been built, just SW of the farmyard. The cottages survive; the site of the barn and yard is covered in trees and uneven ground, not arable.
The barn is also shown on the 1840 tithe map <3>.
