Full description

Church tower, dating to the 15th century. The rest of the church was demolished in 1883 and many elements and furnishings incorporated in the new Church of All Saints [17215] in Tring Road. The earliest of these dates to the 12th century.
The surviving tower is of flint rubble, faced with uncoursed knapped flint chequered with Totternhoe stone and with dressings of the same stone. The roof structure is decayed and there are no fittings in the base of the tower. The original church was a chapel-of-ease in Tring parish up to 1867 and had an aisleless nave, chancel and south porch <1>. The plan of the church, in its graveyard, is shown on the 1878 OS map <2>.
