Full description
A possible moat at Westfield Farm [12199, 12200, 12201] <1>. Although Westfield was a medieval manor, nothing on the 19th century OS maps <2, 3, 4> suggests a moat other than a large pond by the roadside NW of the house. This still exists, and appears to be a spring feeding a stream which leads north and then east to the river Ash. The pond has a rough L plan, but its interpretation as a medieval moat is conjectural.
