Full description

An 18' diameter, hexagonal, brick and concrete pillbox at the edge of Matham's Wood facing N over an open field. Effectively a Type 22 <1> with enlarged gun ports it is of the same design as [6936] but with just two gun apertures <2> to the north and north east and an entrance facing towards the airfield <4>. The gun apertures have Turnbull pins (see [6932]) <3>. There are two infantry firing trenches [6990], one either side of the pillbox.
