Full description

21' diameter, hexagonal, brick and concrete pillbox almost totally hidden in trees and thicket on the E side of Matham's Wood. Typically Allen's Green type with large gun apertures (three) most of the outer brickwork has fallen off. The whole site is heavily overgrown and difficult of access <1>. The wall thickness is a 'remarkable 5' 6" across'. The floor has been raised to combat flooding and hence the interior head height appears to be lower than ususal <2>.
