Full description
An oval earthen mound on the S edge of Mathams Wood. Now grassed over, it is approximately 12m long and 5m wide, and has a shallow depression in the centre. Purpose appears to be military, and it may be the remains of a gun emplacement that formed part of the Allen's Green airfield defences <1>. No structures are shown in this area on a 1944 map of the airfield <2>. It is close to the pillbox [6994].
