Full description
A manorial site, formerly the sheepfold of Royston priory. The manor was leased to Robert Chester in 1537 and sold to him, with the priory, in 1540. Chester (or his son Edward) built a new house [15803] at Cokenach before 1574. No visible sign of medieval manorial buildings survives, although it is possible that the post-medieval water garden [7322] employs the remains of a medieval moat [9280].
