Full description
The 18th century park at Cokenach [7322] is associated with the medieval manor of Cokenach [9279]. <1> suggests that the E-shaped canal scheme west and south-west of the house [15803] may incorporate remnants of a medieval moat which was exploited in the early 18th century to create this formal water layout. The long straight water channel west of the house is presumably that shown on the Drapentier engraving of the house made c.1700 <2>, but this is unlikely to have been part of a moat <3>.
