Full description

A letter written in 1685 describes the sending of '20 pieces of Roman coin, lately found at Honington not far from their regular camp there'. {1}

An urn containing Roman coins was discovered in 1691 & subsequently other coins were found. A score of which Stukeley obtained in 1728. {2}

Stukeley records 'Not long ago in this place have been dug up in plowing, bits of spears, bridles and swords and two urns full of coyns. I saw a large brass one of Agrippa and Julia daughter to Augustus, with many more'. {3}{4}{5}
