Grimsthorpe Castle has 13th century origins, and was enlarged, several times, in the 16th century and in 1685, and again, with remodelling, by Vanbrugh in 1722-1726. Remodelling in 1811 was by H Garling and S Page. The forecourt was enclosed by grille and gates by Edward Nutt, in 1730. {7}{8}{9}{10}{11}
