Parish:PARTNEY, EAST LINDSEY, LINCOLNSHIRE

Full description

During the 7th century there was a monastery at Partney. The founder is not known but two of the abbots are mentioned by Bede. It is probable that it was destroyed by the Danes and not rebuilt. It is unlocated although an anonymous information board by Partney church puts the site in 'Monks Field' where there are faint amorphous earthworks. This is may be site of the medieval hospital in Partney (see PRN42153). {1}{2}{3}
