Full description
A group of aircraft pens and other military structures at RAF Hibaldstow were shown and named on record site plans, surveyed by the Air Ministry in January 1945 :
49 Aircraft pen No 6 Blenheim. Earth
50-52 AA gun crew huts
53 Blister hangar 'O' type
54 Aircraft pen No 6 Blenheim. Earth
55 Cannon test butt
56 Aircraft pen No 6 Blenheim. Earth
There was also one 'AS' air raid shelter, centred to SE98360168. [1]
Only the outline of aircraft pen 49 was extant on recent air photographs, accessed in 2015. Aircraft pen 54 was better preserved - the outer earth bank was still present, although the central dividing earth bank had been removed. Aircraft pen 56 had been entirely removed, and the land returned to an arable field. There was no sign of the other structures, their sites also being under cultivation. [2]
