  • Description

    5) IA enclosure consisted of 2 phases, and surrounded by other domestic features: pits, boundary ditches and both human and animal burials. Pottery assemblage placed site at end of IA, just before Roman conquest. Economy of farmstead larglely pastoral, but evidence for unusually large cattle and for ironworking suggest higher status settlement than other known contemporary ones. Evidence for earlier prehistoric (Mesolithic) activity.
