Summary

There were other revetments located during the Fobney Street watching brief, but their form and alignments are poorly understood.

Monument Type(s):

  • REVETMENT (Medieval to Post Medieval - 1066 AD? to 1900 AD?)

Description

These revetments comprised: (i) large timbers and post medieval pottery along a parallel line with the Holy Brook; (ii) a post and plank revetment, of a form suggesting a medieval or very early post medieval date; (iii) a structure of timber-revetted chalk blocks on a parallel course with the Holy Brook; (iv) and an alignment of radially-split posts beneath rubble infill <1>.
