Summary

A medieval gully was revealed during an archaeological excavation at Crane Wharf, Reading.

  • GULLY (Medieval - 1301 AD to 1500 AD)

Description

A gully dated to around 1400 AD crosses the site, It is either connected to water meadows, or is an overflow channel. Pottery and environmental evidence suggests that some form of light agricultural activity was taking place here during the medieval period <2>. See 02543.00.000 for full site history.
