Summary

A Victorian well was revealed during an archaeological evaluation at 5 Greyfriars Road, Reading, Berkshire.

Monument Type(s):

  • WELL (Post Medieval - 1800 AD? to 1900 AD?)

Description

The well was not excavated, but its upper fill and the brickwork were of fairly recent origin (Victorian). It is possible that the well is of earlier date, but the cartographic sources show the site as green fields in the early 19th century <1>.
