Summary
Two walls both of coursed, mortared chalk blocks were found in-situ during archaeological investigations.
Monument Type(s):
- WALL (Early Iron Age to Roman - 800 BC? to 409 AD?)
Description
Two walls were found in situ: phase 2a, immediately before major medieval construction period. Both walls were of coursed, mortared chalk blocks, 0.1-0.2 cubic m. Some suggestion by the author that these may be even earlier and possibly Iron Age/Roman associated with the theoretical use of the Windsor Castle promontory as an Iron Age hillfort?!<1>
