Description
Level-crossing keeper's cottage, now disused. Circa 1848 by Thomas Penson Jun. on the Shrewsbury and Chester Railway. Stuccoed red brick on stone plinth; low-pitched hipped slate roof has 2 ashlar ridge stacks with moulded capping and dentilled cornice to centre. Italianate style; L-plan. Single storey. Central 4-panel door in lugged architrave with moulded entablature supported on carved consoles; glazing bar sashes in similar surrounds to left and right. <1>

Described in Conservation Management Plan for Cambrian Railways, prepared in 2005. Single-storey, double-fronted with ornate drip mouldings and a shallow slate covered hipped roof. The two stone chimneys are prominent features. It may have originally served as part of the system for guarding and operating the level crossing. <3>
