Description
Part of the Shrewsbury to Hereford line runs through the study area. The present station is C20. The station moved to the south of the road bridge in 1913 when increasing traffic demanded longer platforms. The Railway Gothic buildings have been demolished <1>

Church Stretton Station opened on 21/4/1852. Original station was N of overbridge with two platforms 170 ft long. The main buildings were on the W platform, built on the 'Modern English or villa style' , in rusticated stone. A new station was opened S of the overbridge on 23/5/1914; buildings on both platform were quite large to cater for tourist traffic. A covered footbridge was also added. Today, bus shelters have replaced the demolished buildings. <4>
