Description

Excavation by D Hill in 1985 located ditch of town wall in car park at junction of Church Street and English Walls, near site of New Gate (cf SA494). Excavation located wide ditch with medieval pottery. Stones recorded along lip of ditch, part of base of town wall and New Gate. Also located C19 brick-lined well and wellhouse <1>
