Description

Building, use not indicated-the same structure as depicted on reference sources 2-4.<1>

Malthouse. <2><3>

Old Malthouse. <4>

This feature was noted as part of an assessment of the proposed route of the A483 Pant/Llanymynech Bypass in 2002. A malthouse and kiln lie close to the canal. Shown on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map, and currently a working building (food barn/office). <5>

Described as a large three-storeyed building with its gable end to the towing-path. Despite severe damage in recent years, the ruins are substantial. Like many canalside structures, the upper storeys are red-brick extensions to an older random-stone-built lower storey. <6>

Photographed in 1997. <7>
