Description
Soulton Hall (PRN 12406) is an impressive example of a Carolean house, built in 1668 for Thomas Hill. In front of the Hall is a walled garden or court (PRN 07406) with elaborate gate piers broadly contemporary with the 1668 house (S. Leighton, Shropshire Houses (1901), 19; N. Pevsner, Shropshire (1958), 290) <1>
Square gate piers to front have moulded stone plinths and capping surmounted by ball finials; brick projections to opposing faces with carved scroll-like stone brackets to top. <4>
