Description
A series of linear banks 0.5-0.75m in height were recorded adjacent to the Montgomery Canal, between Aston Upper Lock and Queen's Head bridge. This field was noted on the 1838 tithe map as Wharf Field. These earthworks appear to mark out two or possibly three rectangular plots fronting onto the canal. They may represent the low walls of at least two former structures, perhaps sheds or warehouses belonging to the once extensive wharfage at Queen's Head. <1>
