Description

The site of a winding hole on the Montgomery Canal is shown on 19th century mapping. Noted during walkover survey. <1>

The phase 2 restoration of the canal was monitored during 1995-1996. This winding hole (where narrow boats could turn around) in the northwest bank of the canal was dredged out and enlarged. There was no sign of any original lining of the sides of the winding hole. <2>
