Description

Only surviving shelter from Atcham WWII aerodrome on NT estate. Built for "dispersed site No. 7", 50394*0, in 1941. Approx. 10 x 2m and with 1.7m internal height. Ribbed section, bolted with panels all in concrete. Angled entry at W end. About one third of the roof has collapsed and there is corrosion to the reinforcing bars. <1>

Visited in management/condition survey in 2015. The design is classified as a trench shelter, built to a design by Dudley Hepburn Stent. Photographic record. <2>
