Description

Atcham WWII Airfield "dispersed site No. 11". Accommodation site flanking Norton Drive.Continued in squatting accommodation until 1960s. Demolished, largely burned, by 1972, and dumped in a purpose dug trench in the field next to No. 2 Deer Park Cottages (Anslow, pers.comm.). <1>

Described briefly in management/condition survey in 2015. A narrow site with extant access road and a fuel compound (Bldg.149). <2>

A watching brief was carried out on excavation for a pipeline in this area in 2017. No in situ archaeology associated with the dispersed site, apart from deposits of demolition material. <3>
