Description
The present farmhouse, Middleton Court, was rebuilt in 1861 for the Downton estate but a house and farmstead are clearly indicated on the tithe map of 1839. At that time, the farm was owned by Sir William Rouse Boughton and tenanted by Stephen Braithwaite, who farmed over 250 acres in all. <1>
