Description

'Foundations of a stone wall, 2.5 ft [0.76m] wide, found in September 1901'. This legend accompanies the planned outline of a wall, together with a 'paved surface' 0.76m below ground (60297), shown on J A Morris's 1901 MS plan of the Austin Friars area running more or less down the middle of the St Austin's Friars lane [<1>] . Recognition event unknown. Undated, possibly medieval, possibly an internal division within the friary (PRN 01466). Its east end overlies the projected course of the town ditch, at which point the plan shows a pair of buttress-like features. <2>
